A French study has linked glyphosate in Roundup to damage to human cells. The study showed cell death in placental cells, kidney cells, embryonic cells, and neonate umbilical cells. The study showed total cell death within 24 hours of being exposed to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup. Cell death was reported at concentrations as low as .005 percent Roundup. Common causes of cell death was membrane rupture, mitochondrial damage, and cell asphyxia, or inability to respire. Cell damage was noted at concentrations 500 to 1,000 times lower than present accepted levels in agriculture.

Maui County Citizens Invoke the Hawaii Constitution GMO Moratorium Ballot Initiative

The first-of-its-kind ballot initiative in Maui County to enforce the Hawai'i State Constitution's unique mandate to protect current and future generations was initiated on Friday, February 24th at 2:00 PM at the Maui County Clerk's office.

Five Maui County citizens, Mark Sheehan Ph.D., Lorrin Pang M.D., Lei'oho Ryder, Alika Atay, and Dr. Bonnie Marsh N.D., submitted a new Ordinance to become law that was written by the people, for the people, and to be decided upon by the people, as a ballot initiative in the 2014 November general elections.

To complete the submission process and secure the Initiative's presence on the 2014 ballot, the citizens must gather 8500 registered voters' signatures on petitions by March 31st. 

Feb 24th, 7:00 to 9:00 PM, in the McCoy Theater at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. To kick of the petition drive, the public and press is invited to a free petition drive kick-off event: Monday, 

The evening will include a panel discussion and public press conference with the five citizens bringing forth the initiative, petition signing ceremony and petition gatherer sign up so everyone can gather signatures, followed by a special guest presentation by world renowned GMO and Roundup expert Dr. Don Huber.

The event is sponsored by the SHAKA Movement (Sustainable Hawaiian Agriculture for Keiki (children) and " 'Aina (land)), and advocacy, communications and information hub in Hawaii.

Mark Sheehan, one of the five citizens bringing forth the initiative said, "The citizens of Maui County have serious concerns as to whether the GE operations, the use of Pesticides, and the testing of GE crops, occurring in Maui County are causing irreparable harm to the people, the Environment, and the Public Trust Resources."

The Hawai'i Constitution states that the Public Trust Resources (including but not limited to the land, water, and air) "...shall be conserved and protected for current and future generations."

The five citizens assert that the Genetically Engineered (GE) growing and testing occurring in Maui County (also known as GMO) is different than GE food production farming occurring elsewhere in the world, and therefore poses different circumstances, risks, and concerns.

In Maui County, the farming and testing of genetically engineered (GE) crops include the cultivation of GE seed crops, experimental GE test crops, and extensive pesticide use including the testing of experimental Pesticides in what is effectively an outdoor laboratory.

Areas of Maui's groundwater are already significantly contaminated with Pesticides, including DBCP and TCP, from former conventional pineapple growing operations. The propagation, cultivation, raising, or growing of GE Organisms in Maui County involve unprecedented use of Pesticides which may greatly exacerbate an already existing problem.

The five citizens state that the Hawai'i Dept. of Agriculture does not have an adequate regulatory structure in place to monitor GE crops or to aid in the understanding of the impacts of these crops on Maui's economy, environment, cultural heritage, or public health. Moreover, the land of Maui County and the water surrounding it have cultural and spiritual significance to the indigenous people of Hawaii. This cultural and spiritual heritage will suffer irreparable harm if the natural environment of Maui County is contaminated by the propagation, cultivation, raising, or growing of GE Organisms.

Another concern is that there are no known or proven scientific methodologies or procedures to recall GE Organisms or remediate/decontaminate the Environment from any damages once GE Organisms are released into the Environment and contamination has occurred.

Therefore, the citizens of Maui County call for a suspension of all GE operations within the County through a Temporary Moratorium Initiative until a detailed environmental impact analysis of the impacts stemming from the cultivation of GE crops and their associated Pesticide use is provided and reviewed by the people and County Council.

USDA has just released its draft environmental impact statement and announced a 45-day public comment period on these new crops. Tell USDA and President Obama to reject Dow Chemical’s “Agent Orange” crops!

I oppose the approval of Dow’s genetically engineered (GE) “Agent Orange” corn and soybeans designed to survive repeated spraying of the toxic herbicide 2,4-D, half of the highly toxic chemical mixture Agent Orange.

2,4-D has been linked to cancer, Parkinson’s disease, endocrine disruption, and reproductive problems. If that wasn’t enough, industry tests also show that 2,4-D is contaminated with dioxins—often referred to as the most toxic substance known to science. In fact, EPA has reported that 2,4-D is the seventh largest source of dioxins in the U.S. More 2,4-D use will lead to more dioxins in the environment.

Dow Chemical’s “Agent Orange” crops represent yet another escalation in a chemical arms race that will only result in larger numbers of ever-more-toxic chemicals being dumped on our farms and communities, and into our food supply, leading to higher production costs, increased sickness, and greater harm to the environment. I urge you to reject 2,4-D resistant GE corn and soybeans.

After viewing via internet “Let Us Spray” the confronting and awful reality of what has happened in New Plymouth in regards to dioxin poisoning is indelibly clear.

To give you insight of what a sufferer must endure I have chosen to point out I am personally in the process of claiming ACC the claim was lodged 19th October 2005 and received an outcome of that claim 12th July 2006 “claim for cover is declined “, we have engaged a Barrister to pursue a fair and just settlement in the high courts for our appeal against the denial of ACC. Our appeal was a 3000 page plus document addressing every point ACC used to deny us a rightful claim.

I would ask the people of New Zealand to unit with us and become a single coherent voice which plainly shows the will of the people concerning this issue.

As part of my efforts personally to lift the awareness of what has happened in New Plymouth I set up a website to provide a single web portal for the people of New Zealand to have access to which provides all the information which has been scattered in multiple websites worldwide.

One study suggests that chemicals that act as endocrine disrupters may put an unborn infant at risk. A 2012 epidemiological study looked at atrazine, a commonly used herbicide in the U.S., and found that women who lived in counties in Texas with the highest levels of this chemical being used to treat agricultural crops were 80 times more likely to give birth to infants with choanal atresia or stenosis compared to women who lived in the counties with the lowest levels. ^[26]

Although the U.S. EPA states that thus far studies show atrazine to be an endocrine disruptor,^[1] a 2013 op-ed written by Jon Entine inForbes called it a novel theory, "widely circulated notion popular with the Environmental Working Group, Center for Food Safety, Natural Resources Defense Council and other anti-chemical activists".^[27] According to Entine, the current scientific consensus is that atrazine is safe, restrictions too severe, and has prompted the WHO to significantly raise the allowable amount of atrazine in drinking water.^[27]

A recent study demonstrated that exposure of beetles to environmentally relevant doses of Atrazine during development as larvae confounded the sexual selection process so that females selected less fit mates, and speculated that it may have played a role in the declines in the federally endangered American Burying Beetle.^[28]

• An additional diagnosis of 'SSD' in a patient's medical history may negatively influence decisions made by agencies involved with social and medical services, disability adaptations, education and workplace accommodations.

• An inaccurate SSD diagnosis will skew the person's view of herself and her illness and perceptions of family and friends.

• In multi-system diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Behçet’s syndrome or Systemic lupus, it can take several years before a diagnosis is arrived at. In the meantime, patients with chronic, multiple somatic symptoms who are still waiting for a diagnosis would be vulnerable to misdiagnosis as psychiatrically ill.

• DSM-5 allows for a diagnosis of 'Somatic Symptom Disorder' when a parent is considered 'excessively concerned' about a child's symptoms. Families caring for children with any chronic illness may be placed at risk of wrongful accusation of 'over-involvement' with their child's symptomatology or of encouraging 'sick role behavior.' By what means will a practitioner accurately assess an individual's response to illness within the context of the patient's personal, family and economic circumstances and reliably determine what might be considered 'excessive preoccupation' versus a positive coping strategy for that patient and family?

• The burden of the DSM-5 changes will fall particularly heavily upon women who are more likely to be casually dismissed when presenting with physical symptoms and much more likely to receive inappropriate antidepressants and anti anxiety medications for them.

"The Work Group is well aware that patients, families, caregivers and advocacy organizations are strongly opposed to the DSM-5 changes. During the second DSM-5 public review, the 'Somatic Symptom Disorders' proposals attracted more responses than almost any other category.

Complete Ban on Cosmetic Pesticides in Ottawa With Blessing from Ontario Province - Each Community to Decide for Itself

History of CHO:

Since 2003, the CHO has been calling for the City of Ottawa to pass a by-law that would restrict the cosmetic use of lawn care pesticides.

On May 28, 2008, Ottawa City Council overwhelmingly endorsed, with a 17-7 vote, the Ontario Government's initiative to ban the use and sale of cosmetic pesticides in Ontario (Bill 64 – The Cosmetic Pesticide Ban Act).

Ottawa Council also recommended that the provincial legislation be amended to permit municipalities to pass bylaws regulating cosmetic pesticide use consistent with the intent of the provincial legislation – to ban the use and sale of cosmetic pesticides. With this Ottawa joins the City of Toronto in requesting this amendment.

On April 22, 2008, Earth Day, the Ontario Government introduced Bill 64 - "The Cosmetic Pesticide Ban Act, 2008" - that would implement a province-wide ban on the cosmetic use and sale of lawn and garden pesticides.

Ontario’s cosmetic pesticides ban took effect on April 22, 2009.

Over 250 pesticide products are now banned for sale and more than 95 pesticide ingredients are banned for cosmetic uses (see list here).

 This happened the 1st week of October 2013 about 9am.
The grass was already dead.
In a 20mph or more wind there was a truck with a trailer. In the trailer made especially for it, a red tank, looked like 50 gals to me. They must have weed eated the area first...

Gary Hart and Sheila had offices and a shop about 50 yards from here on Market. This is the corner of Mill and Market.
They both died of heart conditions shortly after this spray.

Mouth, lips and tongue burning, the next morning my mouth and tongue were full of open sores. I was at the Maui Medical Night Clinic the next night. My face had ballooned and a tooth abscessed. The doctor actually asked me if something had happened to cause this... Blew me away cause she suspected this not to be normal.

Richard Amedeo insisted on doing my yard ...I said it was poison but he did it anyway.
He fell down and vomited after 1/2 hr. Then he went home. His heart was stopping and he made a visit to the emergency room when his son found him unconscious in the yard...They couldn't find his pulse, and the nurses asked him if he knew his heart was barely beating too.
He died the next year of prostrate cancer.

"Infant formulas are soy based and 90 % of the soy sampled by USDA found it highly contaminated with Monsanto's Roundup-glyphosate herbicide. The FDA's statement is a joke obviously written by PR staff. Nothing could be further from the truth. The agency states: “The FDA sets high quality standards for infant formulas because nutritional deficiencies during this critical time of development can have a significant impact on a child’s long-term health and well-being. This rule will help to prevent adulteration in infant formula and ensure infant formula supports normal, physical growth.” This is drivel !

Glyphosate disrupts the CYP 450 enzymes and the homeostasis of gut bacteria necessary for the production of the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan. It also interferes with methionine and selenocysteine.

The public must be alerted to the dangers of glyphosate in infant formula..."

FDA Releases Interim Rule for Infant Formula

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released an interim final rule and draft guidance documents regarding the manufacturing standards of infant formula.

Only 75 percent of infants in the U.S. start out being breastfed and by age three months, two-thirds rely on infant formula for some portion of their nutrition. The rule is meant to ensure that formulas for infants without unusual medical or dietary problems are safe and support healthy growth.

The draft guidance documents issued alongside the interim final rule address how manufacturers can demonstrate that their products meet the quality factor requirements of the interim final rule and information about manufacturing formulas made for infants with unusual medical or dietary problems

“Many families rely on infant formula as either the sole source of nutrition or an integral part of an infant’s diet through 12 months of age,” said Michael Taylor, the FDA’s deputy commissioner for foods and veterinary medicine. “The FDA sets high quality standards for infant formulas because nutritional deficiencies during this critical time of development can have a significant impact on a child’s long-term health and well-being.”

The interim final rule amends the FDA’s quality control procedures, notification, and record and reporting requirements for manufacturers of infant formulas. It also establishes current good manufacturing practices and requires testing for Cronobacter and Salmonella contamination.

FDA says that companies currently manufacturing infant formula in the U.S. already voluntarily conduct many of the current good manufacturing practices and quality control procedures included in the rule.

The agency will be accepting comments from the public on issues or information not previously considered in the interim final rule.

Pharmaceutical companies have yet to explain how injecting such toxic substances into a baby actually makes them healthier. You’ll see how they have known about this information for some time.

Consider page 71 of the handbook cautioning, “It should be clearly kept in mind that most of the substances under consideration are poisonous. If they were not, they would probably be useless against the insects for which they are recommended. Therefore, the recommendations for the proper use of these substances should be followed. Careless, unnecessary exposure and misuse is [sic] fraught with hazard.”

Here is the twist I promised.

Using the chemicals in vaccines is easily understood by looking at who owns the patent for DDT.

On page 3 of the handbook it states, “The Geigy company holds the patents on the use of the compound [DDT] as an insecticide. The United States patent is No. 2,329,074, issued September 7, 1943, to Paul Müller.” [emphasis mine]

Geigy company is now known as Novartis Pharmaceuticals, a vaccine manufacturer.



What does it all mean?
In a nutshell, the same companies who formulated and patented DDT, are putting the same industrial chemicals in childhood vaccines. To add insult to injury, their public relations campaigns brainwash doctors and the scientific community into believing that injecting babies, even in small amounts with these chemicals, is somehow okay. Even more bizarre are claims chemicals such as Triton X-100 or Tween 80 are involved in promoting health!

Abstract

Glyphosate is one of the most widely applied herbicides globally but its persistence in seawater has not been reported. Here we quantify the biodegradation of glyphosate using standard “simulation” flask tests with native bacterial populations and coastal seawater from the Great Barrier Reef. The half-life for glyphosate at 25 °C in low-light was 47 days, extending to 267 days in the dark at 25 °C and 315 days in the dark at 31 °C, which is the longest persistence reported for this herbicide. AMPA, the microbial transformation product of glyphosate, was detected under all conditions, confirming that degradation was mediated by the native microbial community. This study demonstrates glyphosate is moderately persistent in the marine water under low light conditions and is highly persistent in the dark. Little degradation would be expected during flood plumes in the tropics, which could potentially deliver dissolved and sediment-bound glyphosate far from shore.

In this unique study in Australia scientists have shown that Glyphosate (Roundup) primarily in GM agriculture, is particularly resistant to biodegradation in sea water, and could therefore be a major contributor to the decline of marine coral reef systems such as the Great Barrier Reef.
