"For, while mind is the builder, it is the purpose, the intent with which an individual applies self mentally, that brings those physical results into materiality." (257-252) ~Edgar Cayce
The power of intent, it may be said, awakens a response in the body for the healing to begin. Whether done with the laying on of hands, a massage, a pack, or a spinal adjustment, there is a force that will flow through us when we begin to apply what we know.
The methods of healing we use—be they of the physical, the mental, or the spiritual—simply awaken within the cells and atoms of our bodies the willingness to allow this life force to flow through us. In achieving this awakening through intent, we, as practitioners, become, then, authentic channels of blessing to those for whom we care.

Electromagnetics of Kundalini, or conscious spinal cord activation
The body's EMF requires ions in the air through which to flow. The higher the ion count the higher the flow in the EMF. The higher the EMF flow, the higher the energy generation of the cells and the higher the energy of the nerves, which means a correspondingly higher EMF flow as well. The EMF or nadi egg comprises the sum total of the body's energy generation and conductivity.
Increased heart field and EMF of the nervous system during the peak kundalini, acts like a synchrotron to actually change certain elements in the central nervous system into their high spin monatomic state. It may be that during heightened activation the body can transmute certain palladium group elements such as iridium and rhodium into their high spin state by adding energy to the atoms. Thus through the transmutation of these elements the body makes its own monatomic atoms on which the causal and subtle fields of the organism are organized.
Increased causal level hardware is laid down and consequently we are making or amplifying our own soul. The fine network of these high spin atoms throughout the central nervous system acts to superconduct energy-consciousness. The causal nervous system is such that the working parts (the high spin atoms) do not need to touch, but communicate immediately through sympathetic resonance with space being no obstacle--ie: they superconduct energy and consciousness. And it is through this high spin atomic system that we achieve cosmic consciousness,
The cell must be tuned to the desired frequency needed to sustain life. The constructive interaction of coherent oscillating fields means there is greater information exchange between cells leading to increased spiritual presence or incarnation.
Besides scalar waves that permeate the matter of our being, the ways that kundalini energy may be conveyed around the body include:
changes in receptors due to the body's light generation and EMF,
increased cellular charge--ATP production and changes in hormone and neurotransmitter spectrum,
magnetizing the blood via the iron content of hemoglobin, superfluidity of membranes and heightened polar charge differentials,
the ionic current created by the electrolytes in the plasma of the blood (sodium, chloride, potassium, bicarbonate),
ionized cerebrospinal fluid,
proteins serving as semi-conductors,
heightened action potentials in nerves,
the fascia (connective tissue and sheaths surrounding the spinal cord etc.),
changes in the bonding angles of water,
superconduction of energy/consciousness within the monoatomic lattice, hence sympathetic resonance of atoms and neural nets.
Quantum gravity describes the interaction of gravity with the three other fundamental forces: electromagnetic, strong nuclear force and weak nuclear force. Cells communicate with each other, and the vibratory energy reaches within the cell via the cytoskeleton and microtubules. Microtubules are structural components that are part of the neuron cell cytoskeleton and brain cells are particularly rich in them. They are cylindrical protein lattice assemblies of tubulin molecules in which the "quantum computations" of consciousness are reputed to take place.
The Penrose-Hameroff model proposes that internal quantum events occurring within tubulin in cooperative interaction with each other, are the bridge between subatomic quantum events and molecular "classical" reality. Stuart Hameroff says consciousness exists on the edge between the quantum and classical worlds. He believes that we plug into the universal proto-conscious mind through this quantum activity in the microtubules.
"I think more like a quantum Buddhist, in that there is a universal proto-conscious mind which we access, and can influence us. But it actually exists at the fundamental level of the universe, at the Planck scale." ~ Stuart Hameroff

Abstract
Cognitive decision processes are generally seen as classical Bayesian probabilities, but better suited to quantum mathematics. For example: 1) Psychological conflict, ambiguity and uncertainty can be viewed as (quantum) superposition of multiple possible judgments and beliefs. 2) Measurement (e.g. answering a question, reaching a decision) reduces possibilities to definite states ('constructing reality', 'collapsing the wave function'). 3) Previous questions influence subsequent answers, so sequence affects outcomes ('contextual non-commutativity'). 4) Judgments and choices may deviate from classical logic, suggesting random, or 'non-computable' quantum influences. Can quantum cognition operate in the brain? Do classical brain activities simulate quantum processes? Or have biomolecular quantum devices evolved? In this talk I will discuss how a finer scale, intra-neuronal level of quantum information processing in cytoskeletal microtubules can accumulate, operate upon and integrate quantum information and memory for self-collapse to classical states which regulate axonal firings, controlling behavior...
"As we engage in our spiritual practices over months and years, we are gradually coaxing our nervous system to move to a higher level of functioning. Many of the characteristics of this are measurable in our neurobiology. And quite a few of the changes that are occurring are directly observable.
There are two main aspects to our purification and opening, each with its own biological signature.
--The Rise of Inner Silence - an abiding inner quietness, or stillness, that is beyond our thoughts, feelings and the ups and downs of daily life. We come to know this as our "self."
--The Rise of Ecstatic Conductivity (Kundalini) in the Body – sensations of pleasurable energy moving within us, penetrating every aspect of our neurobiological functioning. We come to know this as the "radiant aspect of our self." "
While diet is not a primary cause of these changes in our inner functioning, it is a participant in them.
As we find more abiding stillness within ourselves coming with daily deep meditation, we will naturally be drawn to a lighter more nutritious diet.
Likewise, as the neurobiological changes associated with a stirring kundalini begin to occur within us, our diet preferences may change. In addition, certain diet adjustments may be helpful to aid us in navigating some of the excessive energy symptoms that can occur as our inner experiences advance. The process of kundalini is famous for its many symptoms, which can include sensations of heat or coolness in the body, prickly sensations on the skin, surging emotions, physical vibrations or bodily movements, visions, occasional dizziness or nausea, etc. Sometimes there can be some pain as inner energy (prana) is moving through areas where there are remaining obstructions in our nervous system. All of these symptoms eventually give way to much higher and enjoyable experiences.
Depending on the pattern of inner obstructions in our nervous system and the degree of prudence we exercise in self-pacing our practices, we may experience little in the way of uncomfortable symptoms - just steadily increasing ecstasy and bliss, which can bring its own challenges (distractions from stable practice). Regardless, when kundalini becomes active, a good knowledge of yoga practices and the methods of regulating them will pay off in a big way. For those who experience an unmanaged kundalini awakening without knowledge of the particulars involved, it can be a challenging experience, lasting sometimes for years.
Once the kundalini process has begun within us, it can be managed by self-pacing our practices in ways that maintain good progress with reasonable comfort. It is a long term transformation we are engaged in, leading to a permanent condition of abiding inner silence, ecstatic bliss, and divine love radiating naturally outward from within us in all that we do in daily life.
Digestion is at the center of the kundalini process and many of its associated symptoms. So it stands to reason that diet has a role to play. And the role of diet will not always be the same, depending where we are on our path. To understand this better, let’s look at the process occurring in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract in a person who has an active kundalini, and how this relates to diet.

For the purpose of this discussion, we will take the view that spiritual experience rises from neurobiological processes occurring in our body. There are more mystical ways of looking at it, and there is nothing wrong with that. It is the same process occurring, no matter how we choose to describe it. When we are reviewing the effects of diet (and shatkarmas and amaroli in upcoming lessons) looking at the biology can be helpful, as far as we can trace it with direct perception. There is little doubt that modern science will be taking a much closer look at the neurobiology of kundalini in the years and decades to come. It is the next great frontier of scientific exploration - the causes and effects of human spiritual transformation!
Kundalini is traditionally viewed as the awakening of a vast latent energy located near the base of the spine, which rises up the spine to the head. There, a union occurs between the rising energy and stillness, with the energy being feminine (shakti) and the stillness being masculine (shiva).
When there is sufficient inner silence present via the daily practice of deep meditation, and then the breath and body are brought into the process via spinal breathing pranayama, asanas, mudras, bandhas, and tantric sexual methods, we will notice three things occurring.
1. An expansion of sexual energy from the pelvic region upward, with part finding its way into the GI tract.
2. The natural retention of air in the GI tract.
3. The interaction of food with the sexual essences and air in the GI tract.
The natural combination of these three elements in the digestive system through an emerging higher form of digestion gives rise to a new substance emanating from the GI tract, which permeates the entire body. Much of this penetration occurs as this substance enters the spinal canal and rises up through the chest cavity to the head. The highly penetrating and sometimes intoxicating substance produced in the GI tract has been given many names. A name prevalent in yoga is soma. The word soma also refers to a hallucinogenic plant, which is not what we are talking about here. In Taoism, the GI tract, when engaged in this higher functioning, is called the caldron, recognizing the alchemy that is occurring there - three ordinary substances (sexual essence, air, and food) being combined to create an extraordinary substance that is a key to the process of human spiritual transformation.
The process continues in the head, with further refinements occurring in the brain, which lead to another substance being secreted through the sinuses, down through the inside nasal passages, into the throat and then down into the GI tract again, where it joins in the process already described. This recycling of subtle essences leads to even more refined processing in the GI tract. The substance coming down from the brain into the GI tract is referred to as amrita (nectar) in the yoga tradition. It can sometimes be experienced as a sweet aroma in the nasal passages and sweet taste in the mouth.
The overall experience of this combining and transformation of substances, and the recycling of the resulting essences leads to large flows of ecstatic pleasure throughout the body, and the radiation of energy beyond the body. This is why those who are advancing in spiritual practices are sometimes said to be radiant. There is a specific neurobiology behind it. In yogic terms, the body-wide radiance of ecstatic energy indicates the rise of the mythical quality of ojas, which is a greatly enhanced manifestation of vitality that is easily noticed by others.
If we begin to understand that such a process really exists and, better yet, begin to experience aspects of it within ourselves as a result of our daily practices, then we are able to look at diet from an entirely new angle. And we can also see an increasing relevance of shatkarmas (cleansing techniques) and amaroli (urine therapy). All of these methods are aimed at enhancing and optimizing the process just described.
As mentioned earlier, diet is not a core practice in yoga, but an important supporting element. If we look at this that way, we can see how our cooperation with inner urges relating to diet can enhance the overall process that is occurring on the road to enlightenment.
The higher form of digestion described above can generate a lot of heat in the GI tract, radiating out to fill the whole body. It is sometimes referred to as the kundalini fire. When the fires are burning, it can be beneficial to eat heavier foods more often. Then the fire (intense digestive activity) can be used to consume the substances in our GI tract in a more regulated way to produce more soma, rather than frying us from the inside, which is the sensation we can get sometimes if eating too lightly when energy is surging within us. It is also possible to quench the inner fires and related inner energy imbalances with application of the diet methods of Ayurveda, which take into account our bodily constitution and inner energy flows, and how certain foods can either aggravate or pacify these (see Lesson 69).
To keep it as simple as possible, we just listen to what we are being called to do from within with respect to our diet, and in other aspects of our daily activity. When we are engaged in daily deep meditation, we may feel inclined to eat a lighter diet. And when our kundalini becomes active, we may feel inclined to eat a heavier diet at times, and a lighter diet at other times. It will depend on the energy dynamics occurring within us, and the process of purification and opening that is underway.
We learn to become good listeners to the inner voice of our neurobiology as we travel the road to enlightenment.

OM or AUM" is ... ॐ
Om, according to the ancient scripts of the Vedic civilization, is the sound of life. It is the infinite vibration that shimmers through the Universe, providing life and sustenance to everything. Om is the beginning and will continue till the end; the one constant that unites all of creation at its deepest level.
Ω – Ohm ...Consider...Ohm's Law deals with the relationship between voltage and current in an ideal conductor. This relationship states that: The potential difference (voltage) across an ideal conductor is proportional to the current through it.
.."But then suppose you have a photon that was emitted from the Pleiades, and it presumably is real (or almost real) all the way until it is absorbed in your retina. So have you just measured a real or virtual photon? It sorta depends on how you draw the diagram!
Matt Strassler Reply:
You are absolutely correct to point out this subtlety! It is, in the end, a matter of degree.
In general, what we have in quantum fields are disturbances of many types. There is a very special disturbance we may call a particle, which is a ripple that can in principle travel forever. But this is an idealization: any real particle interacts with other objects, and this means nothing is ever exactly this precise, idealized ripple. So the issue is how close is it to the ideal case. In most physical processes one deals with objects that are clearly either close to the ideal or very far from the ideal. A photon traveling from the Pleiades is clearly about as close as you are going to get to the ideal; its energy and momentum are almost the perfect match that you would expect for a massless particle. The disturbance between [a “virtual photon exchanged”] between an electron and a nucleus in an atom has very little energy and a lot of momentum; it is very far from what you would call a particle...."

Spin
"...spin is connected to quantum mechanics...Because of its intrinsically quantum mechanical origin, it should be of little surprise that the electron spin has very unusual properties...the length scale of spin-dependent exchange interactions is on the order of a few atomic spacings. Because of this, the spin-dependent properties in solids are very sensitive to the atomic scale structure."
In classical mechanics, the angular momentum (i.e. rotational motion) can be divided into two parts, an "orbital" angular momentum and a "spin" angular momentum. If one considers the motion of the earth, the elliptical motion of the earth around the sun generates orbital angular momentum, while the rotation of the earth about its axis generates spin angular momentum. For elementary particles such as the electron, the physics is governed by quantum mechanics.
In an atom, the motion of the electron around the nucleus generates orbital angular momentum. The electron also has spin angular momentum, but it is NOT due to a “spinning†motion of the electron. (OK, in a dinner conversation you can describe spin as the spinning motion of an object, but technically this is wrong.)
spintronics
Instead, spin comes out of quantum mechanics when you try to combine it with special relativity, as Dirac did in the 1920's. In solving the Dirac equation, one of the consequences is the requirement of an internal property that is now known as spin.
Because of its intrinsically quantum mechanical origin, it should be of little surprise that the electron spin has very unusual properties.
..For example, its value along any particular axis (say, the z-axis) can only take on two values: Sz = +ŋ/2 and -ŋ/2. In other notations, these are called "spin up" and "spin down", | ↑ > and , | ↓ > or |m s= ½ > and |m s= -½ >.
It also obeys a Heisenberg uncertainty principle where the three components of spin ( Sx, Sy, Sz ) cannot be measured simultaneously. Most importantly from the point of view of computing applications, the spin can be in a quantum superposition state, such as A| ↑ >+B| ↓ > where the coefficients A and B are complex numbers. If you think about digital electronics as being built on bits that can have two states "0" or "1", you can think about spin as a "quantum bit" which can be in states | ↑ > , | ↓ > , or in a superposition state A| ↑ >+B| ↓ >, where |A|2 is the probability of finding the spin in the | ↑ > state and |B|2 is the probability of finding the spin in the | ↓ > state.
Third, the length scale of spin-dependent exchange interactions is on the order of a few atomic spacings. Because of this, the spin-dependent properties in solids are very sensitive to the atomic scale structure.

"Charge isn't transferred and the polarity remains unchanged. What happens is an organization of the water molecules. Rather than being more or less randomly oriented, the electric field from the charged object causes more of them to line up in one direction than another. It's similar to how you can magnetize a paper clip by swiping it on a permanent magnet. The magnetism is already there, but it's 'hidden' due to the random orientation of the atoms.
It has to do with how an atom's or molecule's electrons interact with an external magnetic field. Every material is diamagnetic to some extent. There are other forms of magnetism (paramagnetism, ferromagnetism) that can exist as well and hide a material's diamagnetic properties. Diamagnetism is more obvious in atoms/molecules whose electrons are all paired. Do a search for 'diamagnetism' and you'll find lots of sites that can explain it more fully.
Everything has charges, but the way the charges are arranged makes all the difference. If the molecule has a symmetric charge distribution, this won't work. Polar molecules have what's called a 'dipole moment.' Non-polar molecules don't. In essence, non-polar molecules don't have an electrical 'direction.' They don't know which way to turn in response to an electric field. We'll redo this with oil at a later date.
Water molecules are polar. It doesn't matter if they are in a solid, liquid or gaseous state. They will be attracted to a charged object and then repelled by the charged object once they obtain charge from it. That's why you get shocked from static charge on dry days and not on humid days. Steam would behave like very humid air. The real trick would be maintaining a charge on the object you are using.
The water in a pool isn't pure. It has enough salts and stuff in it to make it slightly conductive, so charges deposited in it would eventually flow through the water and into the ground.
Usually, when two different materials come into contact with each other, one material tends to gain electrons from the other. For example, when polyester comes into contact with dry skin, the polyester will grab electrons from the skin. The polyester becomes negatively charged and the skin becomes positively charged. For a list of how things get charged when they come into contact with each other, do a Google search for 'triboelectric series.'"

"Lindemann’s view of life energy as conscious is fundamental to these experiments, just as is the fact that it is always the body itself which heals, and a good practitioner will simply facilitate that process, helping to remove blockages in the various energy flows which promote health. Healing is a natural process, and all vibrational therapies are attempts to catalyse these natural processes, and accelerate what the body would do normally anyway.
The intelligence of life works physically through the DNA, which controls all processes and functions in the body. When injury occurs, the DNA assesses it, decides what to do, and does it, using the same information/blueprint that was used in building the body in the first place.
The reason that not everyone is perfectly healthy is that the working of DNA has been compromised by toxic deposits, poor choices, unresolved emotions, bad diet and so on—in a word, by toxicity. The DNA can correct these conditions, but we have to stop creating them, by lifestyle and habit changes." http://www.biocircuits.info/index_files/biocircuits3.htm
We can choose with immediate effect to begin repairing and partially accessing the last relics of the highly advanced cellular architecture. This will provide at the very least brief glimpses of a profoundly enhanced sense of self with permanent residual effects. The knowledge already exists, the basic formula for restoration is very very simple and when applied judiciously will rapidly transform the living nightmare we think is normal into an experience our ancestors alluded to in terms of rapture, joy, love and a deep sense of empathy.
Expecting to change our current behaviour/perception while doggedly and even legislatively maintaining the primitive neural architecture and neuro-chemical regime that effectively dictates our current behaviour/perception is a measure of how insane we have become.

When you take a deep breath and chant Om, it causes a very calmful effect, which will totally relax your mind and body. It is the first stage of meditation, which aims at drawing your attention away from all other tensions that have occupied your mind. The sound of Om is very pleasant to hear. When accompanied by slow deep breathing, it gives a very gentle massage to your chest, spine, tummy and head.
Om chanting improves the functioning of all organs of the body and thus, helps in curing various diseases. It helps to improve your concentration power, thereby enabling you to grasp more information. Om chanting is like an orientation to the spiritual practices. When your mind is away from all the worldly thoughts, it is the stage when you get truly connected. It infuses vitality in the body and one tends to feel stronger.
Almost forgot to describe how nerve gas is the same as pesticides...
All of the gases in the series, regardless of their specific identity, act in much the same way. They all inhibit the breakdown of the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. This chemical is responsible for telling muscles to contract – when its breakdown is prevented, it prevents muscles from relaxing, which can in turn lead to a range of other effects.
Symptoms of exposure to nerve gases are initially mundane. Those affected may notice a runny nose, excess salivation and sweating, and contracted pupils. These symptoms quickly escalate, however, to constriction of the chest, difficulties in breathing, nausea and vomiting, and loss of bowel control. This gradual loss of body function continues, culminating in spasm and convulsions, and perhaps coma, before eventual death due to respiratory failure. The effects of exposure last for a significant amount of time, and even those lucky enough to survive do not necessarily do so unscathed; they almost always suffer neurological damage.
Antidotes to nerve agents do exist, but they, too, are often poisonous. Compounds that block acetylcholine receptors can be effective at mitigating nerve agent poisoning, and for this reason the chemical atropine is commonly used as a component of antidotes. Member of another family of compounds called oximes are sometimes used in conjunction with atropine; they work in a different manner, restoring the enzyme that helps break down acetylcholine to working order.

In order for resonance to occur three conditions must be present:
1) An object must have a natural frequency: Every object has one or more natural frequencies at which resonance may occur. The name given to these points on stringed instruments are harmonics.
2) A forcing function at the same frequency as the natural frequency: The function does work on the object it is being applied to. Since work is a form of energy transfer it causes energy to build up in the object.
3) A lack of damping or energy loss: An object will resonate as energy builds up in the object. Anything that removes this energy interferes with resonance. Long before the vibrations reach infinity one of three things happen: 1) the objects dynamics change. Therefore, the resonant frequency and forcing function no longer match, 2) the energy lost as heat, sound, or light becomes equal to the energy input, 3) the object breaks (as in the opera singer and the glass).

Na+/K+-ATPase - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Na%2B/K%2B-ATPase
The Na+ /K+ -ATPase enzyme is a solute pump that pumps sodium out of cells while pumping potassium into cells, both against their concentration gradients.
Wikipedia
"Additionally, Koefoed-Johnsen and Ussing wrote that a “…forced exchange of Na+ against K+…” (i.e., Na+/K+-ATPase) occurred across the basolateral membrane and there was a pathway for K+ to exit the cell across the basolateral membrane. Interestingly, Ussing (1947) had previously suggested that Na+ moved against its own concentration gradient and an electrical potential. The Na+/K+-ATPase maintains the low cellular concentration of Na+ and high extracellular Na+ concentration to help maintain the driving force for Na+ entry across the apical membrane (outer membrane of the frog skin)."
This video describes the actions of the Na+ - K+ pump in keeping an ion gradient across the cell membrane.

Essential Cell Biology, 4th Edition"Indeed, Ussing and Zerahn used copper, adrenaline and a “neurohypophyseal extract” to examine the modulation of Na24 transport and the short-circuit current of the frog skin. Ussing and Zerahn, using the short-circuited technique, were able to short-circuit the tissues by driving (voltage clamping) any transepithelial current generated back to zero. This current was indicative of active transport determined by the net transport processes. Ultimately, Ussing and Zerahn demonstrated that the short-circuit current of the frog skin was essentially determined by the active transport of Na+ across the frog skin epithelium."

Abstract
The relationships among ion current, membrane potential difference, and resistance of an epithelium are studied. The short-circuit technique introduced by Ussing and Zerahn does not completely short circuit the epithelium if the series resistance parallel to the cell layer between the voltage electrodes is not properly compensated. The residual potential difference across the epithelial cell layer in the "short-circuit state" is proportional to both the measured short-circuited small intestinal mucosa the villus and crypt areas are hypo-polarized to different degrees rather than simultaneously hyper- and hypo-polarized. Short-circuiting the whole tissue reduces but does not abolish the passive net ion movement across the tissue. Measurements of the electrical properties of the whole and denuded rat distal small intestine in HCO3-Ringer solution containing 10 mM glucose reveal that the measured short-circuit current has under-estimated approximately 33% of the true short-circuit current and that the passive net Na flux from serosa to mucosa and Cl flux from mucosa to serosa are not negligible in the "short circuit state."

was suggested to be a result of the incomplete action of DNA polymerase, which at each duplication leaves out a part of the terminal portion of DNA, the telomere [Watson, 1972]. This incomplete replication leads to a progressive shortening of the DNA molecule with a related increase in duplication impairment [Olovnikov, 1973].
Telomeres are highly conserved repetitive sequences of DNA (e.g., TTGGGG in a protozoan [Blackburn and Gall, 1978], TTAGGG in mammals [Moyzis et al., 1988] and many other species [Blackburn, 1991]). Telomeres shorten with every duplication event [Harley et al., 1990], but an enzyme, telomerase, can elongate telomeres at each replication, thereby compensating for the incomplete action of DNA polymerase. The action of telomerase explains why some cells, such as those of germ line, have unlimited duplication capacities [Greider and Blackburn, 1985]. With telomerase deactivation, telomeres shorten at each duplication and, in a cell culture or in a tissue, overall duplication capacity is reduced [Yu et al., 1990]. On the other hand, telomerase activation elongates telomeres and cells become capable of numberless duplications [Bodnar et al., 1998; Counter et al., 1998; de Lange and Jacks, 1999; Vaziri, 1998; Vaziri and Benchimol, 1998]. Moreover, active telomerase was demonstrated in immortal human cell lines [Morin, 1989], while in other cells it was proved to be repressed by regulatory proteins [van Steensel and de Lange, 1997].
In a cell culture, the final incapability of a cell to duplicate (replicative senescence) was shown not to be an abrupt event for all the cells at the same time but a progressive reduction of cell culture growth potential that depended on the reduction of telomere length [Jones et al., 1985; Pontèn et al., 1983].
According to Blackburn’s model [Blackburn, 2000], particular protective nucleoproteins cap telomeres, which oscillate between capped and uncapped conditions: the duration of the first state directly correlates with telomere length while the other state is vulnerable to the passage to “noncycling state” or final stage of replicative senescence (fig. 1).

Figure 1 – Telomere oscillates between capped and uncapped conditions. The probability of uncapped condition increases at each duplication in relation to telomere shortening. Uncapped telomere acts as a broken end that can cause an end-to-end joining and a block of cell duplications.
A population of cells with telomeres at their maximum length, but inactivated telomerase, shows a progressive decline in replication capacities. Even cells with telomerase activated and so telomeres constantly at maximum length, should show a small percentage of cells passing to noncycling state at each division. Moreover, it has been proposed that stem cells, unlike germ cells, have levels of telomerase activity that are only partially able to stabilise telomere length [Holt et al., 1996] and for this reason they cannot indefinitely replace the apoptotic elements for cell populations in renewal [Fossel, 2004].
The absolute length of telomeres does not enable one to predict a species life span. Species, such as the mouse and the hamster have long telomeres [Slijepcevic and Hande, 1999], yet they age more precociously than species such as man, which have shorter telomeres. Moreover, in rodents, telomerase activity is not related to maximum lifespan [Gorbunova et al., 2008]. However, Blackburn’s hypothesis does not postulate for different species a fixed ratio between telomere length or telomerase activity and the stability of telomere-capping nucleoproteins complex: it is easy to suppose that the stability of the complex and, in general, the modulation of telomere-telomerase system is different from species to species. What is likely important is the species-specific critical telomere length and the relative rather than absolute telomere shortening [Fossel, 2004].
In relation to the mean number of duplications in cell culture or in a tissue, there is an increasing probability of cell senescence, a "fundamental cellular program" [Ben-Porath and Weinberg, 2005], which is characterized by an altered expression of many genes usually active in the cell, compromising cell overall functionality, and by replicative senescence. A senescent cell has deleterious consequences on the extracellular matrix as well as other cells that are physically near or physiologically interdependent. Cell senescence, and replicative senescence that is one of its characteristic, certainly derive somehow from the relative shortening of telomere (Fossel’s “cell senescence limited model”) [Fossel, 2004]
About the mechanism underlying cell senescence:
“One model of telomere-gene expression linkage is an altered chromosomal structure (Ferguson et al., 1991), such as a heterochromatin ‘hood’ that covers the telomere and a variable length of the subtelomeric chromosome (Fossel, 1996; Villeponteau, 1997; Wright et al., 1999). As the telomere shortens, the hood slides further down the chromosome (the heterochromatin hood remains invariant in size and simply moves with the shortening terminus) or the hood shortens (as the telomere is less capable of retaining heterochromatin). In either case, the result is an alteration of transcription from portions of the chromosome immediately adjacent to the telomeric complex, usually causing transcriptional silencing,"
And finally..

And finally..
At the 64th Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting, Elizabeth Blackburn reviewed the history of how she and her colleagues identified the role of telomeres and telomerase in the cellular aging process, but also presented newer data of how measuring the length of telomeres in a blood sample can predict one’s propensity for longevity and health. It makes intuitive and theoretical sense that having long telomeres would be a good thing but it is nice to have real-world data collected from thousands of humans confirming that this is indeed the case. A prospective study collected blood samples and measured the mean telomere length of white blood cells in 787 participants and followed them for 10 years to see who would develop cancer. Telomere length was inversely correlated with likelihood of developing cancer and dying from cancer. The individuals in the shortest telomere group were three times more likely to develop cancer than the longest telomere group within the ten year observation period! A similar correlation between long telomeres and less disease also exists for cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Blackburn was quick to point out that these correlations do not necessarily mean that there is a direct cause and effect relationship. In fact, increasing telomerase levels ought to lengthen telomeres but in the case of cancer, too much telomerase can be just as bad as too little telomeres. Too much telomerase can help confer immortality onto cancer cells and actually increase the likelihood of cancer, whereas too little telomerase can also increase cancer by depleting the healthy regenerative potential of the body. To reduce the risk of cancer we need an ideal level of telomerase, with not a whole lot of room for error. This clarifies that “telomerase shots” are not the magical anti-aging potion that Faust and so many other humans have sought throughout history.
Why is that telomere lengths are such good predictors of longevity, but too much telomerase can be bad for you? The answer is probably that telomere lengths measured in the white blood cells reflect a broad range of factors, such as our genetic makeup but also the history of a cell. Some of us may be lucky because we are genetically endowed with a slightly higher telomerase activity or longer telomeres, but the environment also plays a major role in regulating telomeres. If our cells are exposed to a lot of stress and injury – even at a young age – then they are forced to divide more often and shorten their telomeres. The telomere length measurements which predict health and longevity are snapshots taken at a certain point in time and cannot distinguish between inherited traits which confer the gift of longer telomeres to some and the lack of environmental stressors which may have allowed cells to maintain long telomeres.
What are the stressors which can affect cellular aging and shortening of telomeres? Blackburn listed a few of them such as stress hormones, oxidative stress and inflammatory stress. All of these stressors cause stress on a molecular level, which means they can damage proteins and other essential components of a cell. Oxidative stress, the excess production of reactive oxygen species oxidizes proteins, disrupting their structure and function to the extent that oxidized proteins become either useless or even harmful. Inflammatory stress refers to excessive inflammation which transcends the normal inflammatory response of cells from which they can recover. Prolonged inflammation, for example, can cause cells to activate a cell-death program.Recent studies in mice have shown that activation of inflammation pathways in the brain can suppress cognitive function, muscle strength and overall longevity. Blackburn also pointed out that stressors are often interconnected.
Prolonged elevation of stress hormones or prolonged inflammation can increase oxidative stress. The higher the level of these stressors, the more prematurely cells will age. This means that the body of a person in their 30s or 40s exposed to high levels of inflammation or oxidative stress may already numerous cells showing signs aging.
Scientists have shown a correlation between telomere length and aging. The good (and bad) news is that telomeres are affected by external factors as well. We can lengthen them to some extent by reducing stress, sleeping more, and eating healthy food. And, as the recent study has shown, we can also accelerate the shortening of telomeres – by drinking too much sugary soda...
The cells in our body all have a nucleus with chromosomes that are replicated as the cell divides. The chromosomes, which contain genetic data, have protective end-caps called telomeres. Without the telomeres, individual chromosomes could get tangled up with each other.
With each division of the chromosomes (and the cell), the telomeres shorten a bit. When the telomeres are too short, the cell can’t divide anymore and dies.

Making yourself through Sound, Music, Geometry and Life...
"Here in the context of the inner Tree of Life is the true geometrisation of the intervals between the notes of the seven diatonic musical scales. Only this geometry is not ordinary geometry but sacred geometry (see page 41), for the inner Tree of Life is the "invisible half" of the outer Tree of Life known to Kabbalists for centuries. The holistic character of the seven diatonic scales (in their pure form — as opposed to their modern, equal-tempered version) is demonstrated by the fact that they conform to the geometry of the inner Tree of Life.
The seven diatonic scales, as the distinct authentic and plagal Church modes, are the historical basis of Western music. They constitute a holistic system, sharing the same universal pattern that is embodied in sacred geometries and which manifests in the 64 codons of human DNA.
