Monsanto RoundUp Causes Brain Damage

"Makes you not think right, makes all your muscles, and joints hurt; fibromyalgia, you know, makes your blood clot..."
That is what I told the Maui County Council concerning a bill to stop the GMO and pesticide Eco-cide occurring on Maui.
I think I have proved it on my blog, and personally.
I have the RIGHT to know and tell this as the truth, because I know what caused me to almost DIE...Pesticides in my environment. People, corporations, state and county government are going around and spraying anything, anywhere, any and all the time...And they need to be controlled...
The chemical corporations sales people, and their government contacts need  investigation on county, and state levels...

A new study reveals a hitherto unknown mechanism behind how the world's most popular GMO herbicide harms the brain.
Titled, "Mechanisms underlying the neurotoxicity induced by glyphosate-based herbicide in immature rat hippocampus: Involvement of glutamate excitotoxicity,"[i] the paper tested the neurotoxicity of Roundup® in the hippocampus of immature rats following acute exposure (30 minutes) and chronic (pregnancy and lactation) exposure.
The results found that acute exposure to Roundup® induces calcium influx into neurons (primarily, by activating NMDA receptors and voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels), leading to oxidative stress and neural cell death. They also found that the herbicide affected the enzymes ERK and CaMKII, the later of which is an enzyme whose dysregulation has been linked to Alzheimer's disease.[ii] Additionally, acute exposure was observed to have the following three effects:
  1. Increase the amino acid glutamate into the junctions through which neurons communicate (synaptic cleft), which, when released in excess levels, can exert excitotoxic/neurotixc effects in neurons.
  2. Decrease the neuroprotective antioxidant glutathione.
  3. Increase 'brain rancidity,' i.e. lipoperoxidation, characterized by excitotoxicity (over-stimulation of the neurons) and oxidative damage.
The summarization of their results, looking at the effects of both acute and chronic exposure, were reported as follows:
"Taken together, these results demonstrated that Roundup® might lead to excessive extracellular glutamate levels and consequently to glutamate excitotoxicity and oxidative stress in rat hippocampus."
Roundup-induced glutamate excitotoxicity appears to share similar effects to monosodium glutamate (MSG) and aspartame-linked excitotoxicity, and indicating that anyone either prone to, or suffering from, a brain or neurological condition involving increased oxidative stress and/or neuronal excitotoxicity (pathological or excessive nerve cell stimulation) should be even more wary to reduce exposure to this unfortunately ubiquitous environmental and food contaminant.
The authors also pointed out that their study found maternal exposure to Roundup® resulted in the offspring being exposed to the herbicide because it crosses the placental barrier during gestation and/or it is passed to them through the breast milk. They caution:
"Exposure to environmental toxicants during pregnancy and suckling periods has the potential to affect embryo and fetal development."
This is not the first time that concerns have been raised about Roundup's unique contraceptiveand birth defect causing properties.

Here we go...People unknowingly poisoned...Soil samples are surely needed...But, NO, just pretend it is OK!
"The response by council members and representatives from Maui Land and Pine was that due to the pineapple baseyard next to that site, and the many years of harsh (now illegal) chemicals being used there, it would not be suitable for living quarters! But how funny, after so many years, we now see the private school built - and now condos?!

I never stop being amazed by the Maui government and greedy landowners that do what they want, when they want to, and screw the public and the impacted neighborhoods!

Dioxins are mainly by products of industrial processes but can also result from natural processes, such as volcanic eruptions and forest fires. Dioxins are unwanted by products of a wide range of manufacturing processes including smelting, chlorine bleaching of paper pulp and the manufacturing of some herbicides and pesticides. In terms of dioxin release into the environment, uncontrolled waste incinerators (solid waste and hospital waste) are often the worst culprits, due to incomplete burning. Technology is available that allows for controlled waste incineration with low emissions.

Although formation of dioxins is local, environmental distribution is global. Dioxins are found throughout the world in the environment. The highest levels of these compounds are found in some soils, sediments and food, especially dairy products, meat, fish and shellfish. Very low levels are found in plants, water and air.

Extensive stores of PCB-based waste industrial oils, many with high levels of PCDFs, exist throughout the world. Long-term storage and improper disposal of this material may result in dioxin release into the environment and the contamination of human and animal food supplies. PCB-based waste is not easily disposed of without contamination of the environment and human populations. Such material needs to be treated as hazardous waste and is best destroyed by high temperature incineration.

The companies manufactured foods using liquid egg imported from Germany and potentially contaminated with dioxins, poisonous chemicals

Aim-listed Finsbury and Samworth, the privately owned group behind the Ginsters brand, manufactured foods using liquid egg imported from Germany and potentially contaminated with dioxins, poisonous chemicals.
Finsbury said it had been informed of the potential contamination by the Food Standards Agency but reiterated the regulator's view that there was "no risk to health" given the tiny volumes of dioxin that might be involved.
The company's shares initally retreated on the news but ended the day ¼ higher at 24¼p.
Tesco, J Sainsbury and WM Morrison confirmed they had withdrawn one or more products as a precautionary measure.
Finsbury said any concern surrounded "short shelf-life cakes" but that it expected no "significant or lasting impact" on the company's finances.

Dioxins and dioxin-type polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
Dioxins are chemicals resulting from certain natural phenomena (volcanism, forest fires) or industrial processes (manufacturing of pesticides, metals or paint, paper bleaching, incineration, etc.).
PCBs are chemicals which are widespread and found in, inter alia, building materials, lubricants, waterproofing agents and paints. Both types of substance may cause serious health problems, including cancer, immune and nervous system disorders, liver damage and sterility.
The TWI is 14 pg (picogram) World Health Organisation toxic equivalent (WHO-TEQ)/kg body weight.

According to your Jan. 1, 2013 Quality Standards that you sent to me - Whole Foods only requires farmed salmon producers to show they are making “progress toward meeting maximum allowable contaminate levels” for PCBs, dioxins, furans, dioxin-like PCBs and mercury in their product. Compared to international, current dietary recommendations for fatty fish, your limit of 2.16 pg/g for dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs in farmed salmon is not safe at all according to the World Health Organization that established in 1998 a goal to reduce human intake levels below 1 pg TEQ/kg body weight/day (http://www.who.int/ipcs/publications/en/exe-sum-final.pdf">source:). (TEQ means Toxic Equivalent Unit)

According to your Jan. 1. 2013 quality standards for farmed salmon, when a 60 kg person eats a single 200 gram serving of Norwegian farmed salmon from Whole Foods their body may receive 432 pg of toxins (2.16 pg x 200 grams). This is more than 7-times the daily safe intake levels established by the WHO and over 3.5-times the tolerable levels established by the European Food Safety Authority (EFTA) (2 pg/kg body weight/day and 14 pg/kg body weight/ week. Source:).
